Been a while....

Okay, so as the St. Louis Singlers reminded me, it's been a while since we have posted. Between sickness, school, and all of our mold stuff, things have been a little crazy.

For those of you who don't know, we have (really had) mold in our crawl space and we have spores in our house that could be bad. During the past month, we have learned A LOT about mold, A LOT. There has much drama with the mold and mold removal. We are in the last stages of them cleaning our house right now. The mold guys cleaned and sealed the mold in crawlspace. They also laid down a mold vapor barrier (very important). They have now been working in our house to clean all the spores possible from our house. We now enter our house through a containment chamber, yep, just like in the movies. We zipper in and out of our house. And zipper in and out into various areas of our house as they clean.

We had to spend two nights at a hotel due to the smell of the sealant. It was bad. It also hasn't helped that Samantha is really sick with a virus and I am sick with a minor virus. The hotel was actually a blessing - Samantha and I had a place to be during the day that wasn't John's office. Samantha got to enjoy cable for the first time in her memory. She really likes PBS Kids in the morning. Now we are home and while the girls are disappointed, John and I are elated. We are hopefully just two business days away from completion. It's what we are hoping.

One blessing from all this has been that we have gotten rid of a lot of stuff that we don't need! Who knew that we had so much room in our linen closet? And coat closet is now so roomy! Our carpet has been professionally cleaned. So while it has been terribly expensive and inconvenient, it has its perks. We also know that God is doing something and that is where our trust lies.

Ugh. What a pain. I think we have some nasty mold in our house too. Remodeling some things might help, such as windows and bathrooms. Like you said, it's expensive though!
