Some notes....on Alexandra

There are so many things that make up who Alexandra and Samantha are - I am not even sure where to begin. I am going to start with Alexandra and tell you a little about the things that we see everyday around here.

Alexandra has such a love of books, particularly the Bible. We got a new Bible for the girls, The Jesus Storybook Bible, and Alexandra asked me to read from it everyday. She absorbs the Word of God like nothing else. One of her favorite stories is the story of Moses in the basket where he is saved by Pharaoh's daughter. Miriam, Moses' big sister, is involved and well, I think that she can identify with the big sister. She is also very interested in the planets and how they look. One day, we were listening to NPR in the car and there was a story about the invisible rings of Jupiter. She wanted to know more about Jupiter and the planets. So, after Samantha went down for her nap, Alexandra and I looked at LOTS of pictures of Saturn and Jupiter. She can identify many of the planets now and knows a little bit about Jupiter and Saturn. We got her a book about space for Christmas and even though she can't read the words, the pictures fascinate her. The way that Alexandra can absorb books astounds us.

Alexandra also LOVES to sing and listen to music. She learned the chorus of a song that she heard sung twice. If you put it to a song, she will learn it. When she was about 15 months old, she would get upset and point at the stereo - we finally figured out that she wanted a different song. We taught her the sign for music and we should have known then how musical she would be.

Her heart for prayer is what constantly amazes me. She asks to pray for owies, for fire sirens that we hear, for everything and anything. We have been praying for the people in Haiti and half the time, she takes over and prays what is on her heart. She is just a special and wonderful girl. We are blessed to have her our lives.
