Alexandra - our superhero

I realized looking at pictures of Alexandra and Samantha that we have not been posting very many pictures. Our lives are busy these days with preschool, appointments, playgroups, and just the stuff of life. However, I know that grandparents, aunts, great-aunts, etc. are probably wanting more pictures of our girls and details about how they are growing. So here are some pictures of Alexandra along with some details....

Alexandra is 3 - what more can I say? Her moods can change on the drop of a hat. She amazes us with what she can learn and know. She likes to have some toys just so, while others she just throws in the bin without a care. She can build the most amazing towers with Legos without a care about symmetry or color coordination (unlike her mom). Her imagination is just really starting to bloom. She enjoys playing with dolls and playing store. She also often goes to her "office" and sends email. Sometimes, Alexandra has office hours with students. (can you tell what John talks about?)

She is a mixture of wanting to do it by herself and wanting us to be "right there" - she is also a mixture of shy and outgoing. Our house is often with the sound of her singing - right now it is Christmas carols. We have had to institute a no singing policy at the dinner table (humming is included). Also, just so John and I can complete sentences, we also have a "you must raise your hand if someone is talking" policy. Otherwise, John and I would only ever be able to say sentence fragments. However, it takes her a while to start talking to other people. Many people comment on how quiet she is - we just smile and nod, all the while knowing that she just is saving it up for us at home. Alexandra gets antsy if we don't leave the house for a couple of days; she really enjoys being around people. And she has no qualms about singing Christmas carols loud in Wal-Mart. Most of the time people smile as she walks by just singing away.

Everyday reveals something new about Alexandra - some facet to her personality or something new she has picked up. We are doing a family devotional based on the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Alexandra already knows the first three questions and answers. She is just absorbing it like a sponge. Yet, no matter how many times we tell her not to close doors, she doesn't seem to absorb that.
